Christian Fellowship with Proclaimed/Unrepentant Homosexuals or Adulterers

DJ2 View Post
Can those who espouse lifestyles that are condemned by the Word of God be admitted into Christian fellowship?

The church implements discipline (Mt 18).

Does the body have a duty to separate itself from influences that the Bible deems wicked?

We are set apart, yes (1 Pe 4:4).

Is the church to draw a line on such behavior and if so where?

A church or a country club?

Jesus had fellowship with Judas and this was the one that betrayed Him. He is also the only apostle mentioned in the bible that Jesus called "friend".

Do you live like Judas and think you're his friend? 2 Co 7:10

Look, I think there can be a time where someone can/should be removed, out of love for the sake of the Church, especially if the person's actions are effecting the fellowship.
Unless you want the entire sanctuary defiled. Ps 24:4, 1 Ti 2:8

It's not possible in this time to not know any not in the lands of America, the adulterers and gays...

I have the benefit of getting there early as I am a greeter. We discuss these things before every entering the sanctuary (we are the sanctuary). If my church would not implement church discipline (Mt 18), I'd find one that would and ask the pastor to go make an honest living.

We aren't there to play church.

I will say it one more time.....JESUS ate with publicans, sinners and whores.........you cannot win the lost if you are isolated from the lost.........geesh...

I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner—not even to eat with such a person. 1 Corinthians 5:9–11 (NKJV)

...[T]he bible is clear to have them removed.

And warn any church down the line where they plan to attend.

I most certainly agree with you that it is clear in the Word. But as you can see from the responses that many do not hold to this simple truth.

They must be wiser than God. See how that works out for them.

We had an exclusion rule in our church and I know because I was subject to it... But when I repented of my sin and asked the churches forgiveness I was welcomed back into the church fellowship...

Mathew 18 is not for a sinner...

Mt 18 is for one who names the name of Christ.

[And warn any church down the line where they plan to attend.] Book, chapter and verse for this please?

The body of Christ extends to churches down the street who name the name of Christ.

And 2 Corinthians 2 shows we must also restore one when he shows Godly sorrow right?

"THE TRANSGRESSOR (2:5–11)
A. The individual (2:5–6): The church previously ousted an immoral and unrepentant believer (see 1 Corinthians 5).
B. The instructions (2:7–11): The man repented, and Paul commands the church to restore him, lest Satan take advantage of their unforgiving spirit." Willmington, H. L. (1999). The Outline Bible (2 Co 2:5–11). Wheaton, IL: Tyndale House Publishers.

[Church discipline Mt 18] This is pure flesh and not found anywhere in scripture ...

We have a local pastor who did just this. They had warned the one to repent (Mt 18). He wouldn't and left. The pastor warned the next church where he had planned to attend.

Mt 18 steps are for one who names the name of Christ.

...[W]e should let people into the fellowship that are sinful as long as they are respectful...

Right. We say to the unbeliever or make-believer: Jesus loves you (Jn 3:16). Jesus is willing to save you (2 Pe 3:9). Repent (Eze 18:30-32; Ac 17:30). Believe (Mk 9:23).
...[W]e should never pretend that they are right with God until they are saved and really right with God.

If we do, we only hold their hand all the way to hell and that is not loving your neighbor. That's hating your neighbor.

...He is talking about separating ourselves from sinners who seek to justify their sins as being good and at the same time claim to be Christians...

That's correct. They hate Jesus more than they lust their partner.

When it comes to something like homosexuality... if there is a gay person in church then why would you throw them out? Wouldn't you want them to hear the gospel and be convicted of their sins?
The Sodomite ( heterosexual [Lev. 20:10–12] or homosexual [Lev. 20:10,13]) is welcome to hear the gospel. He is not welcome to pretend to be a Christian.

I imagine homosexuals don't don't consider their behavior sinful. I imagine fornicators don't consider their behavior sinful.
For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Romans 8:5–6 (NKJV)

Must you use a stripper emoticon to express yourself?
Are you pro-Sodomite?

Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. Romans 8:7–8 (NKJV)
The wickedness of Sodom ([Ex 20:14] heterosexual [Lev. 20:10–12] or homosexual [Lev. 20:10,13]) was notorious (Gen. 13:13).

Who are you to determine if he [Jesus] went into bars?
Jesus turned water into wine privately not to pArTy haRty like in Bruce Almighty.

"C. The orders (2:5–7)
1. From the mother (2:5) : Mary instructs the servants to do whatever Jesus tells them to do.
2. From the Messiah (2:6–7): He tells them to fill six huge jars with water.
D. The obedience (2:8) : They follow his instructions, and the water turns into wine!
E. The opinion (2:9–10): Those at the wedding testify that the wine is the best they have ever consumed!
F. The outcome (2:11) : This miracle demonstrates Jesus’ glory, causing the disciples to put their faith in him!" Willmington, H. L. (1999). The Outline Bible (Jn 2:4–11). Wheaton, IL: Tyndale House Publishers.

2 Cor 2 expects you to restore the one you asked to leave...
You leave repentance out of your gospel (Jn 10:1).

"III. HOW TO EXERCISE CHURCH DISCIPLINE (18:15–20)
A. The procedure (18:15–17)
1. If your brother sins against you, go to him in private, and attempt to reconcile the matter (18:15).
2. If this fails, take someone with you (18:16).
3. If this fails, bring the matter before the church (18:17a).
4. If this fails, dismiss the unrepentant brother (18:17b).
B. The promise (18:18–20): The authority of heaven itself will support this kind of church decision." Willmington, H. L. (1999). The Outline Bible (Mt 18:9–20). Wheaton, IL: Tyndale House Publishers.

[Are you pro-Sodomite?] Are you pro-pagan?

It's a yes or no question. Are you pro-Sodomite ([Ex 20:14] heterosexual [Lev. 20:10–12] or homosexual [Lev. 20:10,13])?

Why does this thread make me want to cry?
Because there isn't a family in Sodom aka America without a Sodomite ( heterosexual [Lev. 20:10–12] or homosexual [Lev. 20:10,13]) in it?
